During 2010, No. 1 cable operator Comcast offered double the number of VOD movies the same day they were released on disc, with more than 200, the company said.

Working with every major studio, Comcast’s top nine VOD offerings were released the same day as DVD: The Blind Side, Couples Retreat, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Hot Tub Time Machine, The Hurt Locker, It’s Complicated, Shutter Island, Date Night and The Book of Eli.

“Our customers continue to use on demand and embrace day-and-date movies in record numbers,” said Marcien Jenckes, Comcast SVP and GM. “Our customers are also watching more kids programming, TV series and music on demand than ever before, and in 2011, we will continue to bring them more entertainment choices available any time, both on demand and online.”

Since 2003 Comcast VOD has recorded 18 billion views. Currently Comcast VOD has a selection of more than 25,000 movies, including 6,000 in high-def.
