NBC, Verizon to Stream Super Bowl
21 Dec, 2011 By: Erik GruenwedelThe NFL and NBC said that for the first time the Super Bowl, post-season wild card games and the Pro Bowl will be streamed live online and mobile devices.
The postseason games, which begin Jan. 7, will be broadcast on NBC as well as streamed live on and , and via a special mobile app through Verizon. The Pro Bowl airs Jan. 29, with the Super Bowl airing Feb. 5 from Indianapolis.
Complementing the streams will be a number of extra features, including additional camera angles, in-game highlights, live statistics and other interactive elements.
“By adding multiple camera angles, HD-quality video, DVR controls along with social interactivity, our online streaming represents a compelling, second-screen experience that nicely complements NBC’s on-air presentation,” Rick Cordella, VP and GM of NBC Sports digital media, said in a statement.
Last year’s Super Bowl telecast between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburg Steelers attracted more than 111 million viewers.
