Image Bows Catalog on Microsoft’s Zune VOD Platform

Image Entertainment Dec. 21 said it is making 175 titles from its film catalog available on Microsoft’s Zune Video Marketplace.

Movies include including director Peter Weir’s The Way Back; Gun, starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson; and The Resident, featuring Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, among others.

Zune is a transactional video-on-demand platform that allows users to buy or rent new-release movies playable on media devices, including the Xbox 360 Live, Windows-based PCs and Windows Phone, among others. Zune users can also interact with movies with Kinect for Xbox 360.

“Image Entertainment is a leading supplier of films, filmed music and stand-up comedy to the digital market,” Image vice chairman John Hyde said in a statement. “We are excited to have Zune as an additional way for our customers to enjoy the home digital experience.”

Chatsworth, Calif.-based Image features an exclusive movie, TV program catalog of about 3,200 titles on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. In addition, Image was one of the first distributors to launch a digital platform, Egami Media, which has license rights to more than 2,100 titles.
