The St. Louis Cardinals’ improbable 2011 run to their 11th World Series title is being commemorated in two new DVD sets from Major League Baseball and A&E Networks Home Entertainment.
The 2011 Official World Series Film, released on DVD (two-disc set $29.95) and Blu-ray ($34.95) Nov. 22, recaps the Redbirds’ run to the title in a documentary narrated by Jon Hamm. Extras include profiles of the team’s players and coaches, a collection of highlights and the complete fifth game of the National League Division Series, a 1-0 Cardinals win to advance them in the playoffs.
The St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series Collectors Edition is an eight-DVD set ($79.95) collecting all seven games, originally broadcast on Fox, from the Cardinals’ win over the Texas Rangers, including the instant-classic game six in which the Cardinals, down to their final strike in the series on two occasions, rallied to win in extra innings on MVP David Freese’s walk-off home run. Extras include alternate audio tracks of the games’ radio broadcasts, postseason highlights, player interviews and celebratory footage.
