Vubiquity Dec. 17 announced an international SVOD distribution deal with AwesomenessTV to distribute the latter’s post-millennial video content to markets in the Middle East, Africa, South Eastern Europe and Latin America (excluding Brazil).
Awesomeness TV, which is co-owned by DreamWorks Animation and the Hearst Corp., launched in 2012 as a YouTube channel that tracked more than 1 billion views a year later featuring original Web series, TV shows and theatrical movies.
AwesomenessTV's series, such as “Fifth Harmony Takeover,” “DIY or DI-Don't!,” “Hey Guys, It's Meg!,” “Makeup Mythbusters,” “Amanda Steele’s The Social Life,” “Cheerhab,” “My Dream Quinceañera” and “IMO” are among 130 hours of content accessible via Vubiquity-backed subscription streaming platforms in many of the countries covered by the deal.
Vubiquity, which is headed by former Warner Bros. Home Entertainment executive Darcy Antonellis, licenses and distributes third-party video content to cable, satellite, telecoms, wireless and OTT providers. The company currently delivers more than 500,000 hours of content annually to more than 109 million households in 117 countries.
Last month, Vubiquity hired longtime U.K. home entertainment executive Rob Salter to spearhead Digital HD’s move into U.K. brick-and-mortar retail.
