Viz Media Adds VOD Feature to Anime Channel

18 Sep, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

Anime distributor Viz Media has added a VOD feature to its 24-7 anime channel Neon Alley, allowing subscribers to watch shows at their convenience.

Previously, Neon Alley, which is available via the Web, Xbox 360, Xbox Live, the PlayStation3 and PlayStation Network, was only offered as a linear service. The new feature — dubbed “Catch-Up” — allows subscribers to watch any content offered at any time, for one week after its premiere.

Some exclusives, including “Naruto Shippuden,” “K” and “Accel World,” will be available for two weeks after new episodes premiere.

“Neon Alley currently features over two dozen different anime series, plus weekly movie premieres and other exclusive programming, and the ability for members to access and watch programs whenever they want using this new feature will give them an even greater degree of flexibility and convenience,” said Brian Ige, Viz Media’s VP of animation.

Neon Alley distributes content from Viz, Aniplex, Funimation, NTV, Tai Seng and Anime News Network, and is available for $6.99 a month.
