Vdio Movie Service Folds

Vdio, a transactional VOD and sellthrough movie site that launched in April, closed its doors Dec. 27, with the company concluding “we are not able to deliver a differentiated customer value proposition.”

The service never got out of beta and was only available to subscribers of Rdio, the music service launched by Skype co-founder Janus Friis in 2010 in the United Kingdom and United States.

Vdio announced it would be refunding all TV shows and movies purchased by users with Amazon gift cards.
