15 May, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Universal Music Enterprises will release The Beatles’ second feature film, Help, on Blu-ray Disc June 25 in North America (June 24 in the United Kingdom).

The 1965 film from director Richard Lester features band mates John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, George Harrison and Ringo Star, and assorted British character actors, in a farcical story involving religious cults, a mad scientist and London police. The movie also includes classic Beatles songs, “Help!,” “You're Going to Lose That Girl,” “You've Got to Hide Your Love Away,” “Ticket to Ride,” “I Need You,” “The Night Before” and “Another Girl.”

The Blu-ray release features a digitally restored film, 5.1 soundtrack with an hour of extra features, including a 30-minute documentary about the making of the film, recollection from cast and crew, an in-depth look at the restoration process, an outtake scene, and original theatrical trailers and radio spots.

The BD edition, which is a follow-up to the 2007 DVD release, also includes an introduction by Lester and appreciation by Martin Scorsese in the booklet.

Universal Music in 2012 released for the first time on Blu-ray, digitally restored editions of The Beatles’ animated movie Yellow Submarine and Magical Mystery Tour.
