6 Aug, 2014 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Online movie service FlixFling Aug. 6 announced it has signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for the studio’s new-release and catalog electronic-sellthrough titles with UltraViolet compatibility.

UltraViolet is the industry-backed cloud-based content storage system intended to spur sellthrough of both packaged-media and digital movies.

In the coming weeks FlixFling will add thousands of Warner movies and TV titles, including The Lego Movie, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim and the "Harry Potter" series, among others.

“This agreement has been a long time in the making, and the logical next step as our business continues to grow,” CEO Thomas Ashley said in a statement. “With our growing retail relationships and our upcoming UltraViolet launch, the timing could not be better.”

Separately, FlixFling is deploying new apps for a number of devices, including Xbox, Samsung, Vizio, LG, and Sony and TiVo, along with updated apps for iOS, Android, Chromecast and Roku.

"We are very excited to add Warner Bros. as our latest studio partner. Warner content is the perfect complement to our already deep catalog of studio and independent titles," FlixFling chairman Brad Heffler said in a statement.
