FlixFling Inks Streaming Deals With Image, Magnolia

19 Feb, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel

FlixFling, the Philadelphia-based transactional and subscription video-on-demand service, Feb. 19 said it signed content license deals with Magnolia Pictures and Image Entertainment.

The new partnerships add hundreds of titles to FlixFling’s transactional VOD catalog and more than 40 titles to the SVOD service. The deals underscore the growing impact SVOD services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime Instant Video are having in a home entertainment landscape increasingly dominated by rental options.

Magnolia titles include Hobo With a Shotgun, Food, Inc. and Bronson, while Image movies include The Last Emperor, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, Hellraiser and Heathers. Also included are stand-up comedy specials from Daniel Tosh, Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan, Whitney Cummings and Ron White.

FlixFling offers a $7.99 monthly streaming option, in addition to transactional VOD — the latter good for a 72-hour viewing window after purchase.

“These new content partnerships bring great value to one of the most robust independent film catalogs available on any streaming service,” CEO Tom Ashley said in a statement.
