Steve Martin Television Specials Head to Disc31 May, 2012 By: John Latchem
Shout! Factory is partnering with SOFA Entertainment on Steve Martin: The Television Stuff, a boxed set of Steve Martin’s television specials and stand-up comedy performances from the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The set, due in stores Sept. 18, will include the 1976 special On Location: Steve Martin, vintage NBC specials Steve Martin: A Wild and Crazy Guy, Steve Martin: Comedy Is Not Pretty, All Commercials … A Steve Martin Special, and Steve Martin’s Best Show Ever. Also featured will be Homage to Steve, including his Oscar-nominated short film The Absent-Minded Waiter and a complete 1979 performance at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
The comedian will help SOFA and Shout! in developing a number of extras, including never-before-seen video.
“I am thrilled that so much of my rarely seen shows will be offered to the public,” Martin said. “I am told that these television appearances, concerts and bonus material are among the best work of my career. I am told this by people I pay.”
