Livestream Debuts on Roku4 Sep, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Roku streaming device owners now have access to Livestream, which offers more than 75,000 live events each month, including sports, concerts and awards shows.
For a $49-per-month subscription, Livestream users have high-def access to more than 60 local news stations and live content from the New York Times, Facebook, HBO, the Associated Press, SpaceX, Warner Bros. Records, Marvel Comics and more. Annual events on Livestream include the Grammy and Oscar red carpets, the Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop, New York Fashion Week, TEDx talks, the Sundance Film Festival and the Clinton Global Initiative.
“Roku was our first choice to bring Livestream from the second screen to the big screen,” said Max Haot, co-founder and CEO of Livestream. “Their affordable and innovative streaming devices enable us to broaden our reach to millions of Roku users, getting us closer to our goal to democratize live video.”
Livestream said it has more than doubled its audience during the summer, and has become the largest live video platform in the nation, based on unique visitors (30 million-plus per month).
