Popcornflix Coming to Sony Bravia TVs, Blu-ray Disc Players

14 Mar, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Popcornflix, which is owned by Screen Media Ventures, March 14 said it has signed a deal with Sony Entertainment Network offering free movies to connected Bravia televisions, Blu-ray Disc players and home theater devices.

Popcornflix is an ad-supported streaming service with more than 650 lower-profile catalog movies — many with major stars, including Brad Pitt, Kristen Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Meryl Streep and Ryan Reynolds, among others.

"We're thrilled to offer our free digital movie platform to Sony customers," said Gary Delfiner, president of Screen Media Digital, a division of Screen Media Ventures LLC. "Now movie lovers can access hundreds of great feature-length films free using Web-enabled Sony products."

Screen Media Films releasing soon on disc include Angel in the House (March 26), Infected (April 9), Crazy Enough (April 16), Deep Dark Canyon (April 23), Home Sweet Home (May 14), Dark Frontier (May 21) and Becoming Redmond (May 28).
