Netflix Ups Ply Count in Restrooms
1 Apr, 2013 By: Erik GruenwedelNetflix said it is increasing the thickness of toilet paper stocked in employee restrooms at its Los Gatos, Calif.-based corporate headquarters, beginning April 1.
The changed occurred after it was discovered Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings had two-ply TP in his corporate restroom.
The streaming pioneer had been providing employees with one-ply TP since launching operations in 1999 – a mandate imposed at the time by Hastings.
The CEO apparently considered one-ply adequate and a luxury compared to his prior stint with the Peace Corps in third-world countries.
CFO David Wells said one-ply contributed 0.0001% to the company’s operating income.
