Netflix June 14 said it promoted Bill Holmes to the newly created position of chief business development officer.
Holmes, who joined the Los Gatos, Calif.-based streaming rental pioneer in 2008, was VP of business development, overseeing global partnerships in the consumer electronics, gaming, operator, service provider and retail markets.
Holmes has been instrumental in spearheading “Netflix Ready” apps embedded in Apple, LG, Microsoft, Nintendo, Samsung and Sony CE devices.
“In doing so, Netflix is now available on millions of devices and in over 25 million households in more than 50 countries,” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said in a statement.
Before joining Netflix, Holmes was VP business development and strategy at DivX Inc., which is a unit of Rovi Corp.
