Fox Slates Hitchcock Releases

9 Jan, 2013 By: Ashley Ratcliff

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is making it all about Alfred Hitchcock March 12 (order date Jan. 30), when it bows biopic Hitchcock and re-releases three of the master of suspense’s classics in a Blu-ray Disc set.

Hitchcock, starring Anthony Hopkins as the eminent director and Helen Mirren as wife Alma, will be available as a Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo pack ($39.99). The film chronicles Hitch’s obsession with a ghastly murder story that proved a challenge for Hollywood studios to support — 1960’s Psycho — and his simultaneous quest to win over Alma.

The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Toni Collette and Jessica Biel. Bonus material includes a deleted scene, nine featurettes, and a commentary with director Sacha Gervasi and writer Stephen Rebello.
The three-disc Alfred Hitchcock: The Classic Collection includes Notorious (1946), about a woman who goes through extreme lengths to spy on a group of Nazi friends in South America; Rebecca (1940), in which a naive young woman marries a rich widower and settles in his gigantic mansion, only to find the memory of the first wife maintaining a grip on her husband and the servants; and Spellbound (1945), about a female psychiatrist who protects the identity of an amnesia patient accused of murder while attempting to recover his memory. The three films were released individually on Blu-ray in January 2012.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the 15-disc Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection Blu-ray set Oct. 30, 2012.
