VeneMovies to Change Its Name to ViendoMovies20 Jun, 2011 By: Angelique Flores
VeneMovies is changing its name to ViendoMovies July 4 — the same day the 24-hour Spanish-language pay-TV channel will premiere a new on-air look.
“The change of name is intended to harmonize better with the genre covered by the channel, within a growing bilingual market,” said Luis Villanueva, president and CEO of SomosTV. “This new name also reaffirms the brand’s actual personality, as a signal produced and distributed in and from the United States, which is why we have chosen such a key date.”
The makeover of the channel, which is produced and distributed by Miami-based SomosTV, is part of the channel’s fifth anniversary celebration.
ViendoMovies has been recognized for programming top original films in Spanish made in Latin America and Spain, and airing big-screen productions featuring Latino talent.
The channel is distributed by such major U.S. cable companies as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Cablevision and Charter Communications, among others, as well as by telecommunications companies Verizon and AT&T, and major cable companies in Puerto Rico.
