Warner To Hold Midnight Party for ‘Rings’ Release
17 Jun, 2011 By: Chris TribbeyWarner Home Video is calling all elves, dwarves and hobbits to Los Angeles for a midnight release party celebrating the Blu-ray Disc release of The Lord of the Rings The Motion Picture Trilogy: Extended Edition.
At midnight June 27, Warner will host a “Rings” event at Best Buy’s West Los Angeles location (11301 W. Pico Blvd.) featuring cast member greetings, giveaways and a costume contest, with an all-expenses-paid trip to New Zealand as the top prize.
Costumes will be judged by representatives from TheOneRing.net as well as by Richard Taylor, co-owner and creative lead at special effects studio Weta Workshop. Other prizes include a solid gold version of The One Ring from Noble Collections, and life-size replicas of Frodo’s The Sting Sword. Warner also is giving away tickets to the final theatrical screening of The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Theatrical Series — The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, taking place at more than 500 theaters nationwide.
Along with the “Middle-earth Midnight Madness” event, Warner is marking the Blu-ray release with Facebook Q&As with “Rings” talent, TNT airings of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on July 3, and a new The Lord of the Rings: War in the North! video game.
Warner releases the 15-disc Blu-ray collection ($119.98) June 28.
