Walmart-owned online movie service Vudu.com will begin targeting users with specific advertising after partnering with ad-serving platform .
Targeted advertising is a form of advertising where online advertisers can use technology to target the most receptive audiences with certain traits, based on the product or person the advertiser is promoting.
Last year, Vudu launched Movies On Us, a free, ad-supported service that offers more than 3,000 high-definition movie titles. The service also sells and rents movies.
“SpotX’s parallel ‘ad-decisioning’ technology enables us to give brands new ways to successfully execute their campaigns on Vudu, while ensuring we keep the content relevant for our viewers,” Julian Franco, director of product at Vudu, said in a statement.
Since launching in October 2016, Vudu’s Movies On Us feature continues to provide customers with a growing list of thousands of popular movie and TV titles. The service is built upon Vudu’s recent upgrades to provide video-on-demand (VOD) viewing experiences across desktop, mobile and OTT devices.
“Movies On Us gives advertisers a unique opportunity to reach millions of viewers on Vudu,” Franco said.
