Walmart-owned digital movie/TV show platform Vudu.com is quietly celebrating its by offering 10-cent movie rentals June 21 on myriad catalog titles, including Lionsgate’s Divergent; Paramount Home Media Distribution’s Into the Wild; Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Angel of Death; and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Silver Streak.
Other special offers include $4.99 weekend movie rentals and $10-and-under TV weekends.
Launched in 2007 as a set-top box (“Vudu Box”) with access to studio movies, Vudu in 2009 became the first electronic sellthrough platform offering digital movies in HD. Walmart acquired Vudu in 2010 for a reported $100 million.
