Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Lionsgate have signed a multiyear agreement giving Sony packaged-media distribution rights to Lionsgate TV content internationally.
The deal consolidates the physical home entertainment distribution of Lionsgate’s TV content while providing SPHE with access to Lionsgate’s deep pipeline of high-end television programming.
Titles include "Orange Is the New Black," "Nashville," Emmy Award winner "Mad Men," and "Nurse Jackie," among others.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Lionsgate to bring their premium TV slate to international home entertainment audiences. This deal demonstrates SPHE’s continuing drive to expand our global distribution business by working with the very best content creators,” Man Jit Singh, president of SPHE, said in a statement.
Lionsgate TV production generates nearly 90 series on 40 different U.S. networks. It will continue to self-distribute its television properties on digital home entertainment platforms.
“We’re pleased to team with a single packaged media distributor to bring our television portfolio to a global audience, resulting in greater operational efficiency, enhanced visibility and increased sales input,” Ron Schwartz, president of Lionsgate home entertainment. “Sony’s global expertise is unparalleled, and we’re proud to bring them a tremendous library and our strongest and deepest pipeline of current television series ever.”
