Lionsgate Inks Deal With Amazon Prime Video in India

3 Mar, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Amazon is expecting big things since launching e-commerce service (and Prime Video) in India last year. Now, Lionsgate wants in on the ride.

The Santa Monica, Calif.-based studio/distributor has inked a deal with Amazon enabling its movies and TV shows to be exclusively streamed on Prime Video India.

Movies include Oscar winner La La Land, The Shack, Deepwater Horizon, The Divergent Series: Allegiant and The Twilight Saga, among others.

“Our collaboration with Amazon Prime Video India is the latest example of our commitment to bring world-class, award-winning movies and television series to the Indian market and its viewers,” Jim Packer, president of worldwide television and digital distribution, at Lionsgate, said in a statement.

In January, Lionsgate signed distribution deals with Participant Media and French-based EuropaCorp as it revamps a home entertainment and distribution unit following the acquisition of Starz and Anchor Bay Entertainment.
