SVOD service to offer Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot in three mystery movies featuring final performances by David Suchet in the role
RLJ Entertainment April 14 said its Acorn TV subscription streaming service will have exclusive access to the final three mysteries featuring Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot following their broadcast on “Masterpiece Mystery!”
The movies will be available on Acorn TV beginning Aug. 11 for Elephants Can Remember, Aug. 18 for Labours of Hercules, and Aug. 25 for Curtain, in addition to more than 60 previous episodes. Additional Poirot mysteries — The Big Four and Dead Man’s Folly — will be available following their broadcasts on "Masterpiece Mystery!"
The movies feature the final "Poirot" performances from British actor David Suchet, who has played the Belgian super-sleuth since 1989.
“For the last quarter of a century, David Suchet has made an indelible mark on television with his portrayal of Poirot, and these final episodes feature a fitting goodbye to a beloved series,” Miguel Penella, CEO of RLJ Entertainment, said in a statement.
Acorn TV streams select British shows as well as programming from Australia and Canada, including series not available in North America. The SVOD service is available at www.acorntv.tv and via Roku, the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, among other platforms.
In 2013, Acorn TV featured exclusive premieres of “Doc Martin,” “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries,” and Guy Pearce’s “Jack Irish,” among others.
