18 Jul, 2011 By: Billy Gil

Purveyor of British TV Acorn Media Group is debuting a new streaming service dubbed Acorn TV.

The site, acornonline.com/TV, will include British mysteries and dramas from Acorn's lineup, including “Upstairs Downstairs,” “Brideshead Revisited,” “The Far Pavilions,” “Foyle’s War,” “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” and “The Forsyte Saga.” This will mark the first time many of the programs are available to stream.

“With Acorn TV, we can offer these programs on an anytime and, ultimately, anywhere basis,” said Miguel Penella, CEO of Acorn Media Group. “We look forward to streaming our incredible program library to U.S. audiences.”

Acorn TV initially will offer unlimited access to a full season of six different series for $24.99 a year for a premium membership, with the first episode of each season offered online for free. Premium members also will receive free shipping on all orders from Acorn’s catalog and website at www.AcornOnline.com.

Each season will be available for six weeks, with six available at any given time. A free trial is offered through Aug. 31.

Acorn says the service also will be available on portable devices that run the Flash 10 player as well as Google TV.
