Shout! Factory Ups Four Executives

Shout! Factory Aug. 31 announced the promotion of four longtime executives: David McIntosh to SVP of business affairs and digital distribution; Melissa Boag to SVP of kids and family entertainment; Jordan Fields to VP of acquisitions; and Tom Chen to VP of publicity.

McIntosh oversees day-to-day business affairs, in addition to managing distribution of film and television properties across all non-physical formats, including broadcast, SVOD, AVOD, EST, TVOD and theatrical.

“[McIntosh] is a key contributor to the strategic direction of our business and has shown savvy leadership through the years in driving revenue across digital, VOD, broadcast and theatrical,” Shout! Factory co-founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos said in a statement.

Boag spearheads animated and live-action releases classified as kids and family entertainment, including integrated marketing, communications, advertising and branding functions. She participates in acquisitions, digital channel management and worldwide retail distribution strategies. 

“She’s a deep strategic thinker and has spearheaded our move into the kids and family business, which has been pivotal in the growth of the company. She successfully manages the relationship with Hasbro Studios and our other major kids content partners,” the Shout! founders said.

Fields leads negotiations for TV and film properties distributed in physical and non-physical formats. Recent deals include Slamdance Film Festival favorite Bloodsucking Bastards, Gravy from James Roday and Takashi Miike’s Over Your Dead Body for the Scream Factory line; classic television properties “WKRP in Cincinnati,” “Maude” and “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” and the animated features Maya the Bee Movie and The Seventh Dwarf for Shout! Kids. 

He has played an instrumental role in Shout’s evolution from a home video distributor into a full-fledged media company, running point on acquisitions for digital streaming service Shout Factory TV and on the company’s expansion into original productions.

“Through his talent for identifying marketable content and great relationship with rights holders, [Fields] brings us an ever-growing list of content partners,” said the founders.

Finally, Chen is responsible for day-to-day consumer PR, corporate trade communications and talent relations. He works closely with multiple business units to develop brand initiatives and publicity strategies for Shout’s pop culture TV and movie libraries, animation, new films and original productions across multiple screens: physical home entertainment, digital, VOD, limited theatrical release and streaming entertainment.

“[Chen] is always up for a challenge and pushes us hard into new directions. He has done excellent work on the launch of Shout! Factory TV and publicizing our moves into other new media channels,” commented the founders.
