Lionsgate Names Ted Bookstaver to Newly Created Alternative Programming Sales Position19 May, 2016 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Lionsgate May 19 named Ted Bookstaver to the newly created position of SVP of alternative programming sales. Bookstaver assumes responsibility for licensing the Santa Monica, Calif.-based studio’s slate of alternative, nonfiction programming to broadcast, cable and digital platforms globally.
Lionsgate’s slate of nonfiction programming includes “Monica the Medium” on Freeform; “Hellevator” on Game Show Network; “Douglas Family Gold,” which premieres May 25 on Oxygen; “Revenge Body With Khloe Kardashian,” debuting on E! next year; and survival competition series “Kicking & Screaming,” which airs next January on Fox.
Lionsgate recently acquired a majority stake in Pilgrim Media Group, whose nonfiction programming slate includes “Fear Factor” and “Wipeout,” in addition to producers Eli Frankel (“Project Runway”), Jonathan Karsh (“My Five Wives”) and Adam DiVello (“The Hills”), among many others.
Bookstaver is the third appointment in the past four weeks as Lionsgate aims to bolster an international TV distribution unit in a fast-changing global marketplace, according to Jim Packer, president of worldwide television and digital distribution.
“Ted has the knowledge, vision and relationships to leverage our growing slate of alternative programming,” Packer said in a statement.
Prior to joining Lionsgate, Bookstaver was VP of international distribution at Dick Clark Productions.
