Saban Brands Announces Next 'Power Rangers' Show

11 Feb, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey

Ahead of the Feb. 15 premiere of “Power Rangers Super Megaforce” on Nickelodeon, Saban Brands announced the next installment in the long-running franchise will be “Power Rangers Dino Charge.”

“Power Rangers Dino Charge” will be the 22nd season of the franchise — which aired its first episodes in 1993. The first 20 seasons were recently released in a collector’s edition “Legacy” set from Shout! Factory.

The new season will be the second from “Power Rangers” that rests on a dinosaur theme, following 2004’s “Power Rangers Dino Thunder.”

“’Power Rangers Dino Charge’ will be a strong addition to the ‘Power Rangers’ franchise,“ said Elie Dekel, president of Saban Brands. “By reintroducing the dinosaur theme, which global trends show is popular with boys, we know fans will find this next season larger than life.”

Saban Brands extended its ‘Power Rangers’ agreement with Nickelodeon late last year, with the two agreeing to air new seasons of the franchise through 2016.

Saban Brands also announced that “Power Rangers Megaforce,” “Power Rangers Super Megaforce” and “Digimon Fusion” have been licensed to Cartoon Network Latin America for broadcast beginning this year.

“We are thrilled to be the home of ‘Power Rangers’ and ‘Digimon’ and to work with Saban Brands to support a broadcast and consumer products strategy in Latin America,” said Lisa Weger, VP of strategic marketing and licensing for Turner Kids Latin America. “We are constantly looking to add to our portfolio properties that align with our brand and will resonate with our audience.”
