Disney Sells 3.2 Million 'Frozen' Discs in First-Day Sales

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment March 19 said it sold 3.2 million Blu-ray Disc and DVD units of box office hit Frozen on the title’s first retail day (March 18). The title is now the top-selling children’s movie on Amazon.com of all time.

Universal’s Despicable Me 2 was the previous top-selling kids’ title on Amazon.

Frozen, which has grossed more than $1 billion at the global box office, had already become the fastest-selling digital release when it bowed early on Feb. 25.

The movie was just released theatrically in Japan, topping the box office with $9.6 million in ticket sales — a first for Disney.
