Amazon.com and BBC Worldwide North America March 21 announced a multiyear content licensing agreement making Prime Video the exclusive U.S. subscription streaming home for sci-fi series “Doctor Who.”

The deal covers the revived “Doctor Who” series that began in 2005 as a follow-up to the 1963-89 original series. The first eight seasons and related Christmas specials are available for free streaming to Prime members beginning March 27. The recently concluded ninth season and its Christmas special will be available in Fall 2016.
