Toshiba Launches Line of 4K Ultra HD TVs28 Jun, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Toshiba is launching a line-up of 4K Ultra HD TVs, available beginning in August, with the cheapest model a 58-inch set for $5,000.
A 65-inch model will run $7,000 while an 84-inch set will have a list price of $17,000.
“While the content creators work to create more 4K content and figure out how to distribute it, consumers can still enjoy the clearer, more natural and lifelike images on a 4K Ultra HD TV,” said Scott Ramirez, VP of product marketing and development for visual products for Toshiba America Information Systems. “This year, consumers can enjoy Blu-ray Discs with near 4K resolution, thanks to powerful upscaling technology; however when choosing a brand, they should choose one that has high-quality processing and proven engineering skill to optimize the 4K experience right, like Toshiba.”
The TVs feature Toshiba’s proprietary CEVO 4K Quad+Dual Core Processor, resolution restoration to help up clean non-4K content, color enhancement, cloud TV functionality, a family calendar, personal messaging features, a photo album, built-in WiFi, a streaming news service, a TV programming guide and other Internet-connected apps.
