Lionsgate, Miramax Expand Home Entertainment Pact

Lionsgate Oct. 7 announced it has expanded its 2011 distribution agreement with Miramax to include 250 new titles for distribution on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, electronic sellthrough and transactional VOD.

New additions to the 700-plus title catalog include Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn, horror properties such as Dracula, The Faculty and titles from the "Prophecy," "Halloween" and "Children of the Corn" franchises, prestige titles including Marvin’s Room with Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep, The Shipping News starring Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore, The Grifters, Her Majesty Mrs. Brown, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Dirty Pretty Things and Fresh as well as family titles, including the "Pokémon" franchise, among others.

The first wave of Blu-ray and DVD titles released will be timed for Halloween availability and include From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty and Venom, along with key titles from such franchises as "Halloween," "Prophecy," "Children of the Corn," "The Crow," "Hellraiser" and Wes Craven Presents Dracula.

“This new agreement continues to broaden and deepen the portfolio of premium content we offer to our consumers in a wide range of digital and traditional formats as part of our commitment to expand their choices and enrich the home entertainment experience,” Ron Schwartz, president and GM of sales and distribution for Lionsgate, said in a statement.

The expanded agreement reflects Lionsgate’s successful track record in distributing third-party product from Miramax, Studiocanal and A&E, as well as its own titles. 

Comprised of more than 16,000 movies and television episodes, Lionsgate’s library includes the "Hunger Games" and "Twilight" franchises, Divergent, Dirty Dancing, Now You See Me, Monster's Ball, Crash, Rambo, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Reservoir Dogs, "Mad Men," "Weeds" and "Orange Is the New Black."
