YouTube TV Bows App

30 Oct, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Online television service YouTube TV is bowing a branded app. The Google-owned over-the-top video service went live in April streaming live sports, news, TV shows and related content through Google Chromecast dongle.

Now, the $35 service can be accessed through Android TV devices, including NVIDIA Shield and TVs with Android TV built-in, such as Sony, as well as Xbox One, Xbox One S, and soon Xbox One X.

In a blog post, Okalo Ikhena, YouTube TV product manager, said the service in the coming weeks would be launching the app on Smart TVs, such as LG, Samsung and Sony, along with Apple TV.

“We also recently expanded our TV device support by launching voice commands with Google Home paired with Chromecast,” Ikhena said.

YouTube TV, which is now available in the top 50 metro areas, covering over two-thirds of the U.S., has been advertising heavily during the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros.

It is offering free seven-day access during the series, which continues with game six on Halloween.
