Cinedigm Inks CDM Agreement with Limelight Networks

10 Apr, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Cinedigm April 10 announced a deal with Limelight Networks to use the latter’s content delivery network (CDN) to prepare, store and deliver movies and TV shows to its current and future subscribers of its over-the-top (OTT) video networks.

CDNs such as Akamai, Level 3, Limelight and Netflix’s Open Connect act as virtual traffic switches using a system of servers to help direct Internet content across networks into consumer homes.

Cinedigm believes Limelight’s CDNs will improve the video quality of its OTT services, optimize user engagement across devices, and significantly reduce delivery costs.

The home entertainment distributor’s SVOD services include family-themed Dove Channel, Docurama (documentaries), comic-convention-themed CONtv and The WHAM Network (e-sports).

“As we continue to strengthen and expand our OTT infrastructure to support growth, Limelight Networks emerged as the ideal CDN choice,” Erick Opeka, EVP of digital networks, said in a statement. “Limelight’s experience delivering amazing content experiences and proven global reach will enable us to tap into the rapid growing OTT markets in Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.”
