Disc distributor and fulfillment company Alliance Entertainment Corp. (AEC) has been sold to disc wholesaler Super D, the companies announced Sept. 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.

AEC supplies CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs to retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target.com and BestBuy.com, and manages a physical inventory of approximately 400,000 discs out of its distribution center in Shepherdsville, Ky.

Super D, based out of Irvine, Calif., has more than 350,000 SKUs in stock for distribution to retailers. It was founded in 1990 as an independent music store, the CD Listening Bar.

“Combining the best of both Alliance Entertainment and Super D into the world’s largest wholesaler of music and video with our continued focus on service, selection and technology creates enormous possibilities for the company as we approach $1 billion in annual sales,” said Super D president Jeff Walker.

Bruce Ogilvie, CEO of Super D, added: “Both Alliance and Super D are industry leaders in e-commerce, and we are excited to continue to develop an even more robust operation to support e-commerce retailers.”
