Following the retail success of its Prime Day, Amazon announced it will hold its first “Digital Day” Dec. 30.

The 24-hour online event will feature discounts up to 80% on video games, 50% on movies and TV shows and 75% on assorted digital comics, in addition to music, apps and related software.

Along with Apple iTunes, Amazon Instant Video is one of the largest domestic sellers and renters of digital movies and TV shows.

Separately, Amazon said its original series “Goliath,” starring Billy Bob Thornton, was the most streamed series over the winter holidays, with Love & Friendship the most streamed original movie.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s “The Night Manager” was the most-watched TV series (non-Amazon original) on Prime Video. The most watched movie (non-Amazon original) was Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Eye in the Sky.

Meanwhile, packaged-media releases The Secret Life of Pets (Universal), Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory and Warner’s Harry Potter Complete 8-Film Collection rated as the top-selling titles at Amazon over the winter holidays.

The e-commerce giant said 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Home Alone and Elf (Warner/New Line) were the most-requested holiday movies through Alexa, the voice service within Amazon’s Echo personal media device.

"Echo and Echo Dot were the best-selling products across Amazon this year,” Jeff Wilke, CEO, worldwide consumer, said in a statement.

Amazon said Dec. 19 was the peak worldwide shipping day this holiday season.
