Projections: 'Good Dinosaur' Ready to Dominate Disc Sales

29 Feb, 2016 By: John Latchem

Walt Disney Studios' The Good Dinosaur, the latest animated effort from Pixar, should have no trouble debuting atop the home video sales charts the week ending Feb. 28.

With just $122 million at the domestic box office, Good Dinosaur is the lowest-grossing Pixar film. But it shouldn't have much competition its first week on disc, and will likely benefit from the Pixar brand attracting families who didn't see it in theaters.

MGM's Spectre, in its third week, still maintains a huge retail footprint in new-release sections, bigger than any of the new titles other than Good Dinosaur, which should help it maintain a high chart spot.

Universal's Spotlight's Best Picture Oscar win likely comes too late to impact the charts in its first week, especially since its win was a bit of a surprise given all the buzz surrounding The Revenant.

Rank Title Studio Weeks on Chart
Projected Top 3 Sellers for Week Ending 2/28/16

2 Spectre Fox/MGM 3
3 Spotlight Universal New
Projected Top 3 Rentals for Week Ending 2/28/16
