“Downton Abbey,” The Double, 1911 and Forks Over Knives won the Entertainment Merchants Association’s Independent Home Entertainment Awards, presented during the EMA’s 2012 Independent Product Market at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, Calif.

PBS Distribution’s Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey — Season Two earned the award for Sellthrough Title of the Year. Image Entertainment’s The Double took the award for Rental Title of the Year; Well Go USA’s 1911 was named Best Direct-to-Video/Limited Release Title of the Year; and Virgil Films' Forks Over Knives was awarded the Documentary/Special Interest Title of the Year.

“Independent studios continue to provide consumers with an extensive roster of unique and diverse content enhancing the home entertainment experience for viewers,” said EMA president and CEO Bo Andersen. “EMA is delighted to recognize these studios for their excellence in meeting the demand for quality movies and TV shows.”

EMA’s retail and distributor members vote on the Home Entertainment Awards. Honors were awarded based on criteria such as the rental and sellthrough success of the title, and the marketing campaign launched by the studio or distributor.
