11 Feb, 2013 By: Ashley Ratcliff

Philadelphia-based Artsploitation Films has acquired of three new international horror films: Horror Stories, Memory of the Dead and Wither.

Horror Stories, from Korea, chronicles a kidnapped girl forced to tell haunting tales to her serial killer kidnapper. The girl tells four stories, each made by different filmmakers: Don’t Answer the Door (Jeong Bum-shik), Endless Flight (Yim Dae-Woong), Secret Recipe (Hong Ji-Young) and Ambulance on the Death Zone (Kim Gok and Kim Sun).

Argentina’s Memory of the Dead, directed by Valentin Javier Diment, is about a woman who undergoes a strange cultural ritual to bring her deceased husband back to life, while Sweden’s Wither, from directors Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund, follows a group of friends who disturb the resting place of an evil creature during a weekend in the woods.

All three films are slated for theatrical, VOD, digital and DVD releases later this year.

“With this trio, we go deeper into our horror series (the other release being Hidden in the Woods),” said Artsploitation president and CEO Ray Murray. “The three films here are truly edgy, stylish and creepy. Each have a new delight that we hope even hardened horror fans will embrace.”
