Traci Blunt Promoted to President of Urban Movie Channel16 Feb, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel
RLJ Entertainment has promoted Traci Otey Blunt to president of Urban Movie Channel, the upstart subscription streaming service she helped launch in late 2014.
The $4.99 monthly service, which features urban-themed content, including licensed and original dramas, documentaries, comedies, horror and stage plays, topped 20,000 subscribers at the end of 2016.
UMC, along with RLJE’s Acorn TV, is part of Amazon Channels platform.
"Traci has demonstrated an expertise of the digital entertainment industry in a short period of time. Her experience in creating successful campaigns to reach African-American and urban audiences, coupled with her decisive results-oriented management style are an effective combination which will help UMC continue to expand,” RLJ Entertainment CEO Miguel Penella said in a statement.
UMC executives reporting to Blunt include Angela Northington, SVP of content acquisitions, and GM; Farah Noel, manager of UMC publicity and corporate affairs; and Lauren Spencer, UMC digital marketing manager.
Blunt will continue to serve as the EVP for corporate affairs at RLJE — a position she assumed two years ago.
