Publicist Christoph Buerger passed away Aug. 13 at age 37 in his home in Hollywood after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.

Home Media Magazine learned about the passing of Buerger through a Facebook posting.

Buerger was a longtime publicist who worked at Rhino Entertainment and Miramax Films. Most recently, he founded his own public relations firm, Christoph PR, which touted a list of high-profile clients such as David Lynch and Sid and Marty Krofft.

At Buerger’s request, a celebration of life with music by his friends has been slated.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 26 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The evening will include performances by Nikki Monniger and Brian Aubert of the Silversun Pickups, Joey Altruda, Chrysta Bell, and Dean Wareham. Sid Krofft will emcee, and the night includes a DJ set by Dean Hurley. A cocktail gathering will take place before the show with a candlelight procession to follow.

According to the various reports, Burger is survived by his parents Constance Buerger and Carlos Balderrama.

A traditional memorial was held Aug. 20 at the Hollywood Forever Chapel and another memorial is planned for Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Independence City Hall complex in Burger’s hometown of Independence, Minn. Cards may be sent to Buerger’s mother at P.O. Box 103, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.
