Monterey Media to Release Film Theatrically After TV Debut3 Aug, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey
Endgame, a political thriller detailing the end of South African apartheid and the release of Nelson Mandela, will air first on PBS Oct. 25, before Monterey Media gives the film a limited theatrical release Oct. 30.
A DVD for the film is slated for February 2010.
“The combined television broadcast and theatrical distribution will certainly raise its profile and make Endgame accessible to millions of viewers,” said Jere Rae-Mansfield, CFO and managing partner of Monterey.
Endgame will mark the season premiere of the PBS “Masterpiece” drama series.
“Endgame is an important but little-known piece of history with a very timely message: If peace could be brokered in South Africa, then peace is possible anywhere in the world,” said “Masterpiece” executive producer Rebecca Eaton. “Monterey and ‘Masterpiece’ share the same goal for Endgame, which is to find the widest possible audience for this film.”
