'X-Files,' 'X-Men' Top Saturn Awards Home Entertainment Nominations

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films March 2 announced nominees for the 42nd Annual Saturn Awards, recognizing achievement in genre entertainment in film, television and home video.

Among the dozens of categories, Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned the most nominations, with 15, followed by Universal's Crimson Peak and Warner's Mad Max: Fury Road, with nine each. TV leaders include "The Walking Dead" with seven noms and HBO's "Game of Thrones" with five.

In categories tailored specifically for home entertainment, Best DVD/BD Release nominees include Big Game (Anchor Bay), Burying the Ex (RLJ/Image), Monsters: Dark Continent (Anchor Bay), The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (Universal), The Cobbler (RLJ/Image) and Wolf Totem (Sony Pictures).

Best DVD/BD Special Edition Release nominees are Furious 7 — Extended Edition (Universal), Society — Limited Edition (Arrow), The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies — Extended Edition (Warner), Vanilla Sky with alternate ending (Warner) and X-Men: Days of Future Past — The Rogue Cut (Fox).

Best DVD / BD Classic Film Release nominees are Burnt Offerings (Kino Lorber), Cemetery Without Crosses (Arrow), Ladyhawke (Warner Archive), Miracle Mile (Kino Lorber), The Monster That Challenged the World (Kino Lorber) and Tales of Terror (Kino Lorber).

Best DVD/BD Television Release nominees are Black Sails: Season 2 (Anchor Bay), From Dusk Till Dawn: Season 2 (eOne), Hannibal: Season 3 (Lionsgate), Lost in Space: The Complete Adventures (Fox), My Favorite Martian: The Complete Series (MPI) and X-Files: The Collector's Set (Fox).

Best DVD/BD Collection nominees are Frank Darabont Collection (Warner), Horror Classics Vol. 1 (Warner), Jurassic Park Collection (Universal), Mad Max Anthology (Warner), Nikkatsu Diamond Guys Vol. 1 (Arrow) and Special Effects Collection (Warner).
