Lionsgate Titles Dominate Nominations for 89th Oscars

Movies distributed on home video by Lionsgate scored six of the nine Best Picture nominations for the 89th Academy Awards, led by La La Land, which had 14 overall nominations, and Moonlight with eight. Paramount had two best picture nominees and 20th Century Fox scored one.

Other Best Picture nominees to which Lionsgate holds home entertainment distribution rights include Hacksaw Ridge (six nominations total), Hell or High Water (four noms), Lion (six noms) and Manchester by the Sea (six noms). 

Paramount's Best Picture noms include Arrival (eight noms total) and Fences (four noms). The Best Picture nomination for Fox's Hidden Figures was among its three total.

Disney had two of the five Best Animated Feature nominees: Zootopia and Moana, the latter also scoring a Best Original Song nomination. Universal's stop-motion Kubo and the Two Strings was also nominated for Best Animated Feature, as well as Best Visual Effects.

Winners will be announced Feb. 26 on ABC.
