Lionsgate Using Vimeo Technology to Deliver OTT Video

Lionsgate and Vimeo have entered into a technology to provide backend support for two of the studio’s four over-the-top video services' offerings, including Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud comedy site and the Tribeca Shortlist curated movie platform.
The pact began in August with the launch of LOL, Hart’s multi-platform comedy streaming service with custom content delivered daily via branded app, website and social media platforms.
“The relationship between content provider and consumer is becoming more important than ever, and we’re proud to be part of the movement connecting audiences with content,” Vimeo GM Kathleen Barrett said in a statement.
Vimeo recently scuttled plans to launch a branded SVOD service, opting instead to provide OTT technology, from white-label apps to flexible monetization tools, for businesses to create custom video services across all major platforms and connected devices. Vimeo currently powers more than 500 subscription services.
Lionsgate’s other OTT services include Comic-Con HQ and Pantaya — the latter a Spanish-language service in partnership with Univision.
“We’re very pleased with the support that Vimeo’s advanced technology has already provided, and we look forward to continuing to work with them … as we grow our audience and subscriber base,” said Julie Uhrman, EVP & GM OTT ventures at Lionsgate.
