Disney Movies Anywhere Gets Fios Distribution

23 Aug, 2016 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Cloud-based digital movie service Disney Movies Anywhere Aug. 23 announced the platform’s first premium-TV agreement via a distribution pact with Fios by Verizon.

Under the deal, Fios subscribers can purchase Disney movies — including new release The Jungle Book — and access them and other digital titles via the DMA ecosystem. Titles can be viewed on compatible mobile devices or the Fios set-top box.

“Disney Movies Anywhere will let Fios customers watch all their great Disney movies on their home TVs with Fios on Demand and on their phones or tablets with the Fios Mobile app — anywhere they are,” said Tricia Lynch, executive director of content strategy and acquisitions for Verizon.

Through Sept. 7, Disney Movies Anywhere is offering a free digital copy of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. to new and existing members who connect an iTunes, Amazon Video, Vudu, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV and now Verizon Fios account to DMA.

“This is an invaluable addition as we continue to expand access and connect our customers with their digital movie collections across multiple platforms and devices,” said Dan Cohen, EVP of pay television and digital for Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution.
