AMC Networks, home to “The Walking Dead,” has begun beta-testing a proprietary over-the-top video service catering to horror movies.
Users who submitted their emails to Shudder.com have begun receiving notices about free trials of the service, which reportedly will cost $4.99 a month or $49.99 for the year at launch.
The service will have access to about 200 movies, ranging from catalog to new releases, according to Variety, which first reported the beta-test.
AMC is no stranger to OTT video, having licensed shows such as “Walking Dead,” “Mad Men” (via Lionsgate) “Hell on Wheels” and “Orphan Black” to Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video.
