Amazon June 19 announced its Prime Instant Video subscription streaming service has inked an exclusive deal with Aardman Animations for short-film series “Wallace & Gromit,” “Shaun the Sheep,” “Timmy Time” and “Rex the Runt,” among others.
In addition to new programming, Prime members will have access to seasons three and four of “Shaun the Sheep,” the “Shaun the Sheep: Championsheeps” special and two new “Timmy Time” specials.
“Our customers love great kids shows and we are proud to be the exclusive subscription streaming home for these popular Aardman shows,” Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon, said in a statement.
Prime Instant Video remains in a content war with Netflix for control of the subscription streaming market.
Recently, Amazon inked a deal with HBO for select catalog programs, including “The Sopranos,” “The Wire,” “Deadwood,” “Rome” and “Six Feet Under.” More recent HBO content includes “Eastbound & Down,” “Enlightened,” “Flight of the Conchords" and select current seasons of “True Blood,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “Treme,” among others.
