Amazon has upped the ante in its battle with Netflix for subscription streaming subscribers in the United Kingdom.
Amazon Prime Instant Video U.K. now has access to hundreds of episodes from multiple seasons of NBC Universal primetime TV shows such as “Suits,” “Grimm” and “Parks and Recreation,” among others.
Also included in the deal is the renewal of series such as “Battlestar Galactica” and “Heroes,” in addition to Golden Globe-winning comedies “The Office,” starring Steve Carell and John Krasinski, and “30 Rock,” starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.
The agreement follows recent deals with BBC Worldwide and Starz whereby Prime U.K. subs have streaming access to pirate series “Black Sails,” Canadian sci-fi series “Orphan Black,” and past seasons of “Sherlock,” “Doctor Who,” “Life on Mars,” “Last Tango in Halifax,” “Call the Midwife,” “The Office,” (British version), “Absolutely Fabulous,” “Outnumbered,” “Red Dwarf” and “Top Gear,” among others.
Amazon Prime Instant Video U.K. claims to have more than 15,000 movies and TV shows, in addition to access to 500,000 Kindle books to borrow.
