Scream Factory Marks 5th Anniversary

12 Jun, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

In honor of the fifth anniversary of Scream Factory, Shout! Factory’s horror label, the distributor June 12 announced a series of special events and catalog sales of collector editions and Blu-ray Disc titles.

Launched in 2012, Scream Factory has focused on titles that have been long unreleased or underserved that cater to collectors, served up with inconceivable detail, including new and original art, extensive interviews, beautiful transfers and lost footage.

With nearly 300 releases under its belt, the Scream Factory has been the recipient of several Rondo, Reaper and Home Media Magazine Awards for excellence in presentation.

Scream is now hosting a special screening event titled “5 Nights of Fear,” airing on Shout! Factory TV, presenting five nightly screenings of cult favorites including Nightbreed, Bad Moon, The Exorcist III, Hellhole and Rabid.

“5 Nights of Fear” airs through June 16 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT at ShoutFactoryTV.com and on Pluto TV Channel 512.

Scream Factory in August is offering limited-edition steelbook versions of John Carpenter’s Escape from New York, The Fog and They Live.

Under the guidance of Jeff Nelson, senior marketing director, and Blu-ray producer Cliff MacMillan, Scream Factory has worked closely with industry legends John Carpenter (Prince of Darkness, Assault on Precinct 13), Wes Craven (Deadly Blessing, Shocker, The People Under the Stairs), John Waters (Serial Mom), Brian De Palma (Phantom of the Paradise), James Gunn (Slither), Clive Barker (Nightbreed, Lord of Illusions) and Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Funhouse) to present their work in the best light possible.

While releasing slasher films like Sleepaway Camp, The Funhouse, Terror Train, Final Exam, The Burning, and The Slumber Party Massacre, to the lesser known films such as Without Warning, Blood and Lace and The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Scream Factory has also secured rights to major horror brands.

Through a partnership with Anchor Bay (now Lionsgate), Scream Factory secured rights to all 10 "Halloween" films to release Halloween: The Complete Collection — the first time all 10 Halloween films were packaged together.

Scream Factory has since issued other complex releases, including Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut, Raising Cain: Collector’s Edition and The Exorcist III: Collector’s Edition.
