Adopted (DVD Review)9 Jun, 2010 By: Billy Gil
Stars Pauly Shore.
What do you say about a movie in which Pauly Shore, playing himself, travels to Africa to adopt a baby?
Shore details how his partying ways have left him bereft of the unconditional love of having children. He decides to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Angelina Jolie and travels to Africa to attempt to adopt an African child, hitting up Oprah’s school for girls and an adoption agency, but finds that it’s not quite so easy as showing up and saying he’s American and that he wants an African baby.
The film is utterly ridiculous, but intentionally so, akin to those films in the range of Bruno. Shore lampoons American arrogance and ignorance, as well as his own dwindling fame a la Kathy Griffin, which is all good and fine, but the movie ends up being offensive for the sake of being offensive most of the time.
For viewers who find that type of thing appealing, this is the film for you.
